OREANDA-NEWS. April 3, 2009. A series of the talks with the Korean delegation led by the Head of the Department of the Korean Institute for International Economic Policy were held in Ashgabat. this week the guests from Seoul have been received at the leading ministries and departments of the country including the Ministry of Economy and Development, the Institute of Strategic Planning and Economic Development, the State Bank of Foreign Economic Activity and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the meetings the sides expressed mutual interest in enhancing mutually advantageous cooperation that had been offered powerful incentives to develop during the state visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Korea last November.

Exchanging views on the perspectives of partnership the sides prioritized the fuel and energy sector, in particular oil and gas processing, modernization of existing industries, etc.

Focusing on the intention to expand on the very promising Turkmen market the Korean partners reaffirmed their willingness to collaborate in the ongoing projects in Turkmenistan including construction of the seaport in Turkmenbashi and creation of the Avaza national tourism zone on the Caspian Sea coast and in textile industry.

The opportunities of cooperation would be discussed in detail during the Turkmen-Korean business forum which would be held in Ashgabat this May.
