OREANDA-NEWS. April 06, 2009. During the first 3 months of 2009, Moldova was issued 737 permits for the export of wine, barley, maize and sugar to EU.

Such data was cited by the Ministry of the Economy and Commerce, noting that in I quarter of this year 23 Moldovan wine companies have received 238 permits for the export of 22.5 thousand hectoliters of wine to EU, or 32% of the total quota established.

For the export of barley the Ministry of has issued 65 permits, and since the beginning of 2009, the quota provided by EU amounted to 15.1% or 5776 tons. 84 permits were issued for the export of the maize. The ministry of economy and commerce reminded in 2009 the EU offered to Moldova quota for supply of 70 thousand hectoliters of wine, 30 tons of wheat, 25 thousand tons of barley, 20 tons of corn and 18 thousands of tons of sugar.

Permits are issued free of charges. In 2008 the quota for the export of wine made 60 thousand hectoliters, barley - 20 thousand tons of sugar - 15 thousand tons of economic agents are able to master the RM selected EU quota in record time - 7 months.

The volume of foreign trade between Moldova and the EU, in 2008 increased by 23,9% as compared with 2007, reaching US2.9 billion or 45% of the total trade of the Republic of Moldova. Moldovan export to EU amounted to US 820.1 million, or 51.4% of the total Moldovan exports.
