OREANDA-NEWS. April 01, 2009. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Minister of National Economy and Deputy Chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council of Oman Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki at Oqsaroy residence in Tashkent.

Uzbek leader Islam Karimov said that Uzbekistan values the growing cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman. The President stressed that the meeting provides an opportunity to share views on issues related to bilateral relations and overall cooperation of Uzbekistan with the Arab world.

Relations between Uzbekistan and Oman have developed in a spirit of friendship and cooperation. Foreign ministries of both countries have established regular consultations. Oman is one of the most influential countries of the Arab world. Cooperation with Oman provides an opportunity for us to strengthen relations with other Arab countries. In turn, Oman considers Uzbekistan as one of the leading states in Central Asia, developing the relations with it contributes to the development of cooperation with the region as a whole.

Uzbekistan, and Oman have tremendous potentials in fuel and energy sectors, have extensive experience in the development of the agricultural sector. Both sides are interested in the development and implementation of joint projects in oil and gas industry, conducting research in agriculture. The countries have ample opportunities to develop cooperation in tourism. In particular, in Oman there is a great interest in historical monuments and religious sites in Uzbekistan.

Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki thanked the President of Uzbekistan for the frank reception and said that the Sultanate of Oman is interested in developing cooperation with Uzbekistan in different fields.
