OREANDA-NEWS. April 06, 2009. In the next few years Belarus will construct twelve new ice hockey arenas, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky said as he met with President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Rene Fasel, reported the Official website government.by.

“At the end of the year the President of Belarus approved the construction of another twelve ice arenas,” the Prime Minister said. All in all Belarus plans to build thirty new arenas, he noted.

Several years ago there were four indoor ice arenas in the country. Now there are thirteen of them. There are eleven children’s ice hockey schools. The Golden Puck tournament instituted by the President of Belarus gathers more than 15, 00 participants

The Prime Minister reminded that the Belarusian national team is among the top ten teams in the world.
