OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2009. IBA in cooperation with IBM Eastern Europe/Asia (IBM EE/A) and Netkom, an IBM distributor in the CIS countries, conducted a workshop in Minsk, Belarus, reported the press-centre of IBA.

Entitled “IBM Day in Belarus”, the workshop aimed to show how IBM products and solutions such as IBM Cognos, IBM Lotus, IBM WebSphere, IBM Tivoli, and IBM FileNet contribute to cost reduction and profitability improvement. The workshop gathered roughly 150 representatives of more than 80 organizations, including local banks, insurance companies, production enterprises, and government institutions.

Sergei Levteev, IBA General Director; Viktor Merkuriev, head of the IBM EE/A mission; and Alexei Sakharov of Netkom opened the event.

Following the opening addresses, experts from IBM EE/A, IBA, and NETKOM delivered reports and presentations.

Mr. Merkuriev spoke about the global positioning of IBM technologies, focusing on the IBM’s Smarter Planet strategy.

Afterwards, IBM experts presented IBM Cognos products, IBM Lotus strategy, business-level integration using Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), IBM solutions to manage information infrastructure, as well as IBM storage systems and security solutions.

IBA experts made presentations on IBM Cognos 8 and Chancellor.

Sergei Akoulich, IBA Business Development Director, commented: “The workshop’s focus on business solutions by IBM and its partners is in line with the IBM’s product strategy that targets not IT specialists but top executives. The products are instrumental in business analysis, business planning, risk management, business process management, and business intelligence. IBA seeks to implement IBM products and solutions to help organizations survive in the current economic downturn.”
