OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2009. Despite the global economic crisis the Svetlogorsk-based Khimvolokno has developed seven new markets: Portugal, Slovenia, Macedonia and others.

In view of a slowdown in the sales at the Russian market, the company has diversified its exports. “Since October 2008 we have found seven new markets,” the company experts said. The geography of the company’s deliveries covers now more than 30 states.

In March 2009, the company took part in the international specialized exhibition Tyres, General Mechanical Rubber Goods and Caoutchoucs in Moscow. The company presented a wide assortment of cord fabric and viscose industrial threads. The Continental Concern, one of the world leading tyre producers, got interested in the Belarusian products. After the exhibition the representatives of the foreign company paid a visit to the Khimvolokno Company to assess the level of the production and attest the company as a possible partner. The Svetlogorsk Company dispatched a pilot batch of viscose industrial threads to the Portuguese plant of the Continental Concern.

After the Moscow exhibition, Khimvolokno has defined possible areas of cooperation with Korean companies.

At the end of March Khimvolokno took part in the JEC Composites Show in Paris. The company presented its unique products of technical application: heat-resisting polyoxadiazole fibres, Arselon threads and fibres, carbon materials on hydrocellulose fibres (threads, fabrics, nonwoven materials and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic). During the exhibition Khimvolokno signed a contract for the delivery of ?100mm worth of carbon materials to Germany. Samples of carbon materials will be soon sent for testing to Italy and France.

Founded in 1964, Svetlogorsk Khimvolokno is one of the biggest companies of the petrochemical industry of Belarus. The company incorporates enterprises, which produce textile threads and artificial fibres. The company employs over 6,000 people.
