OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2009. The memorandum specifies the key directions of the companies’ cooperation in the field of production of equipment for nuclear power plants of Russian design, particularly, for the additional WWER reactors to be built at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (India). The construction of the plant’s 1st and 2nd units is near completion.

The memorandum complies with the agreement for the construction of additional reactors at Kudankulam NPP and cooperation under other NPP construction projects signed by Russia and India Dec 5 2008 and opening up wide prospects for both Russian and Indian industries.

L & T already has experience of such cooperation: the company is actively involved in the installation of the equipment of the 1st and 2nd units of Kudankulam NPP. According to the memorandum, the parties are planning to develop cooperation not only in the framework of the Kudankulam project but also under other WWER projects in India and other states.

While singing the memorandum, President of Atomstroyexport Dan Belenky pointed out its importance: “This is the start of big joint work and an opportunity for both companies to demonstrate their capacities under new projects in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy.” Belenky believes that the cooperation between Atomstroyexport and Larsen & Toubro Limited will be actively developing.
