OREANDA-NEWS. Since April 3 till April 10, 2009, NBM currency reserves decreased by US19,64 million or 1,7%, amounting to US 1 billion 126,73 million.

According to NBM, since early 2009, NBM currency reserves have declined by US 545,68 million or 32,6%.

As NBM representatives note, it was stipulated by the transactions on sales of currency at the currency market, foreign debt repayment, other external payments as well as change in the exchange rate of currencies against U.S. dollar.

In 2008, Moldova’s currency reserves increased by US 338,72 million or by 25,4%- up to US 1 billion 672,41 million. As of December 31, 2007, NBM currency reserves amounted to US 1 billion 333,68 million. For 2009 IMF predicts decrease in the Moldova’s currency reserves by US 614 million.
