OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 April 2009 was announced, that the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange on April 21 started trading industrial and consumer goods; the presentation of the bidding system take place during TIBO expo in Minsk on April 21-24, a source in the Exchange administration told.

The Exchange designed and introduced a versatile solution that maintains a subsystem of electronic tendering for industrial and consumer goods and enables bidding for sale with simultaneous identification of commodities and definition of foreign trade classification codes and national register of Belarus.

The solution offers sellers and buyers on-line access to the shareable database and enables sellers to place their public offers and contractors to place counter bids, and complete transactions.

By April 1, 2009, 6,000 traders and brokers’ clients from 41 countries of the world had been granted access to the public database.

Electronic bidding will be held on a daily basis from 9:00 to 17:00.

Buyers are not charged for making bids, whereas sellers are expected to pay a fee of 0.1% of the transaction value.

Belarusian producers are allowed to sell their products on the domestic and external markets at prices below production costs only if they sell via the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange.
