OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 April 2009 was announced, that UTK’s investments in the upgrade and development of telecommunications in the city of Sochi amounted to more than Rub 60 mln in 2008.

Based on data as of January 1, 2009, 24 new residential and commercial housing development areas received telephone connectivity in 2007 and 2008.  In addition, 9 NGN multi-service access nodes were built.

An important project for UTK in 2008 was completing the construction of the Adler-Krasnaya Polyana-Laura fiber-optic transmission line.  Thelengthofthelineis47 kilometers.  Commissioning of the Adler-Krasnaya Polyana-Laura fiber-optic transmission line made it possible to provide top quality communication to over 5,000 people that live in the mountain villages of Krasnaya Polyana, Moldovka, Estosadok, Kazachy Brod and Kepsha.  Also in 2008, UTK completed construction of the first stage of the backup 17-km Sochi-Adler fiber-optic transmission line.  The length of another fiber-optic transmission line – Adler-Veseloe – which the company built in 2008, is 11 kilometers.  It was built in close proximity to the area where the Olympic facilities are being erected. Thus, UTK has already laid the groundwork for the telecommunications infrastructure to be used in the 2014 Solchi Olympic Games.
