OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 April 2009 was announced, that the pace of construction in Moscow in the first quarter of 2009 has speeded up, compared with the same index of 2008.

“The results of the first quarter [of 2009] show that the development of social homes goes on according to the schedule. In total, more than a million (1,063,500) square metres of housing was erected in Moscow within the first three months that is 0.5 per cent more than it was in the same period of 2008. In the meantime, the amount of social housing has been doubled,” Vladimir Resin, first deputy Moscow Mayor, said at a press conference on April 16.

According to the official, 90 cottages intended for large families were erected on 8 various sites with the total area of about 19,000 square metres in the first quarter of this year.

Besides, Mr Resin added that 6 kindergartens, 2 primary schools and 11 sports and fitness centres had been built in Moscow since the start of 2009.
