OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2009. Investments of TNK-BP into ecological projects will exceed US3 billion in 2009, said Evgeny Bulgakov, Vice President of TNK-BP for Health, Safety and Environment, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

According to him, investments into environmental protection this year will be somewhat increased compared to last year.

“We are investing considerable funds into environmental protection and, as a corporate citizen, do care about the environment and natural reserves of Russia,” added Mr. Bulgakov.

TNK-BP explores and produces oil in Western Siberia, Eastern Siberia, the Volga–Ural region, and on Sakhalin Island. The oil production of the company in 2007 exceeded 78 million tons, which is the third largest volume of oil production in Russia. Currently, 50% of TNK-BP shares is owned by the British company BP and the other 50% by the Russian shareholders (25% by Alpha Group of Mikahil Fridman, 12.5% by Renova of Viktor Vekselberg, and 12.5% by Access Industries of Leonard Blavatnik).
