OREANDA-NEWS. On April 23, 2009 JSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines has summarized its performance in for March and Q1 2009, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

In March 2009, the company carried 604,600 passengers (including 1,900 by charter), and performed 1,792 million passenger kilometers.

The prompt reduction of flight frequency on a number of routes was done with respect to the lower demand for air services and to allow lower costs. In this connection, the work load in March decreased by 16.5% (119,100 passengers) compared to the level of 2008. The drop in work load was registered both on domestic and international lines. Passenger load factor in March amounted to 60.7%, which is 8.1% lower than last year.

Over the three months of 2009 passenger carriage reduced by 13.4%, which is substantially above the industry’s average (for comparison: according to the expert estimates, the volume of air transport in Russia fell by 35% over Q1).

In Q1, the company carried 1,776 thousand passengers, and performed 5, 390 million passenger kilometers. Passenger load factor amounted to 61.3%.
