OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 May 2009 was announced, that unsold inventories of Belarusian industrial companies increased 39% in January-March to 6.891 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br) as of April 1, 2009, an official with Belarus’ Statistics Ministry told.

Overstocks were at 91.8% of the average monthly production volume as of April 1, 2009, up from 53% on January 1, 2009.

In monetary terms, inventories increased 7%.

Inventories of engineering and metalworking companies increased 4.2% in January-March to 3.094 trillion rubles, of light industry companies 7.9% to 587 billion rubles, of woodworking and paper industry 8.8% to 321 billion rubles.

Chemical and petrochemical companies’ inventories increased 17.4% to 769 billion rubles, food-processing companies’ inventories went up 6.3% to 1.348 trillion rubles, construction materials companies’ stocks increased 12.4% to 263 billion rubles.

Ferrous metal companies reported a 0.5% fall in stocks to 206 billion rubles.

In March, inventories of televisions rose 17% to 137,700 units, of refrigerators 21.4% to 168,900 units, of washers 7.4% to 52,300 units, of tractors 2.5% to 4,100 units, of cement 53% to 101,800 tonnes, of chemical fibers and threads 1.6% to 12,800 tonnes.

At the same time, in March, inventories of trucks edged down 1.2% to 3,248 units, of tyres 0.3% to 39,700 units, of sugar 0.9% to 342,700 tonnes, and of mineral fertilizers decreased 6.7% to 16,800 tonnes.
