OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2009. TATNEFT Company reaffirmed its high environmental rating, becoming for the third time in a row the winner of one of the most prestigious environmental contest in the country "One Hundred Best Organizations in Russia. Ecology and Environmental Management". Shafagat Takhautdinov, General Director of the Company, was bestowed a high contest award: the honorary badge "Ecologist of the Year", reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

The final part of the contest arranged with the support of the Federation Council, the State Duma, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the International Academy of Quality and Marketing Club of "Ecology of Russia, was held in the framework of the IIIrd All-Russia Conference on Ecology and Production. Prospects for Development of Economic Mechanisms and Environment Protection" and the Ist International Conference "Global Ecology and Industrial Safety under the World Crisis Conditions".

The event was for the first time attended by representatives of the international organization of parliamentarians "Globe International", advocating for a balanced environment.

While determining the winners of the contest the Contest Council took into account the same criteria as before: the dynamics of the funds allocated for environmental protection activities, the options of reducing the negative impact on the environment, the availability and implementation of environmental programs, their effectiveness, environmental complexity, and the scope of environmental activities within the territory of the Company's business activity.

TATNEFT has already implemented two large-scale environmental programs for the last two decades period. Currently, in the framework of the third environmental program for the period until 2015, TATNEFT continues to pursue the unified integrated policy in the area of nature protection, industrial safety, health and environment protection. The amount of 29 billion rubles, including 4.875 billion rubles spent in 2008, from all financing sources were allocated for the environmental activities of the program for the period of 2000-2008.
