OREANDA-NEWS. May 5, 2009. The expert delegation of the European Commission is on a visit to Ashgabat. The guests were received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Mejlis of Turkmenistan where the partners discussed the major aspects of cooperation in a wide spectrum of the fields.

Focusing on the need for further intensification of educational cooperation the partners emphasized that in compliance with the goals of he national development programmes and the tasks to enhance the capacity of management personnel this sphere ranked among the priority fields of partnership between Turkmenistan and the EU member states. As is known in recent years the partners have accumulated the profound experience of cooperation in this field – a number of the important projects aimed at improving the national educational system were successfully completed in the framework of the EU TACIS Programme implemented in Turkmenistan since 1991.

Reaffirming the intention to steadily expand business and humanitarian contacts with dynamically developed Turkmenistan, the guests expressed belief that the active dialogue would help to identify the vectors of cooperation to address modern realities and demand. For this purpose the EC experts will hold a series of the talks at the national ministries and departments to consider the perspectives of cooperation in agriculture, power industry and other sectors.
