OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2009. The workshop on merger analysis organized by the OECD-Hungary Regional Centre for Competition in Budapest (RCC) took place in Budapest (Hungary), reported the press-centre of FAS. 

The RCC is a partnership project between the OECD and Hungary that provides capacity building in competition policy and enforcement in Central and Eastern Europe.

The Head of the Novosibirsk Regional Office of the FAS Russia Mr. Sergey Gavrilov participated in this seminar.

The workshop was organized in conjunction with the United States Federal Trade Commission. The representatives from competition authorities of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine were the participants of the workshop.

The issues such as defining the relevant market, unilateral and coordinated effects, barriers to entry and other competitive factors, assessing the evidence as well as remedies and efficiencies were discussed during the seminar. Participants analyzed documents related to the merger case and also took part in the role playing game followed by general discussion on results.

In general, the participation in given workshop allowed the representative of the FAS Russia to get familiar with the practice of taking decisions on certain issues related to the merger analysis in other countries as well as to explain own point of view on the different issues of competition policy based on the Russian legislation.
