OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2009. A scheduled meeting of the Expert Council on Developing Competition in the Metallurgy Industry, at the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia), took place, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of FAS Russia, presented information on the expected changes to the antimonopoly legislation, devised by FAS Russia as the "second antimonopoly package", including the forthcoming amendments to No.135-FZ Federal Law of the Russian Federation "On Protection of Competition" of 26th June 2006, the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and others.

Representatives of iron-and-steel companies discussed the crisis on the market of metal products of the Russian Federation, which took the form of a considerable drop in manufacturing of metal products and accordingly a drop in consumption of metal materials and supplies.

Representatives of "Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works" OJSC and "Mechel" OJSC reported on supplies of coking coals under the long-term contract signed by the companies to execute the determination issued by FAS Russia to "Mechel" OJSC upon processing an antimonopoly case.

Alexey Ulyanov, the Head of the Department for Industry Control, pointed out that in the crisis situation on the market of metal materials and products in the Russian Federation, the long-term contracts between the iron-and-steel companies and producers of metal materials should be adjusted with regard to the volume of supplies and introduction of a price formula that would be appropriate for the current market conditions.
