OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2009. The insurance company ROSNO has paid OJSC Alpha Strakhovanie regular tranches of reinsurance compensation in the amount of over 344 million roubles for the loss incurred as a result of the accident at the Chagino substation, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The accident occurred on May 17’ 2008 during the equipment test launch procedure in the new building of the Chagino substation (500 kW) located in Moscow. The depressurization of the transformer storing about 50 tons of oil and the subsequent short circuit caused explosion and fire. The flame spread throughout the transformer, which was not connected to electricity network, and the total area under fire amounted to 500 sq.m.

In April 2009, the insurance company ROSNO paid the 5th and the 6th tranches of reinsurance compensation for 344,880,000 roubles. Therefore, the aggregate volume of compensations, including the share in reimbursement of loss minimization costs (securing payment guarantees for the services of the specialized company BELFOR Austria GmbH) in the amount of 37,692,565 roubles, presently equals 708,450,204 roubles.

Payments are made in line with receipt of invoices, supporting documents from the reinsurant and recommendations from the experts involved.
