On 07 May 2009 was OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), one of the largest heavy machinery company with assets located in Russia and the Czech Republic, announced that OMZ Special Steels, part of the OMZ Group, has successfully passed a technical inspection conducted by Bezopasnost VO Federal State Unitary Enterprise, a Russian surveillance organization.

The inspection revealed that the company is ready to produce semi-finished products for Russian nuclear power plant equipment in accordance with Russia’s nuclear energy regulatory documents and other quality requirements for the products.

Currently OMZ Special Steels produces metallurgical semi-finished products for the Novovoronezh, Leningrad, Kalinin and Beloyarsk nuclear power plants.

OMZ Special Steels is certified by the Federal Service for Environmental, Technical and Nuclear Surveillance (Rostechnadzor). The certificate №CE-12-101-2261 issued on 15 September, 2008 covers the production of forgings and semi-finished products in accordance with steel types and technical terms admitted by Rostechnadzor and supply of the products to producers of equipment for nuclear power plants. The certificate is valid until 30 September, 2013.
