OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2009. AsiaUniversalBank, with the assistance of the French Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, will launch a major art project - ”Reflex: Interpretation of French Masterpieces by Kyrgyz artists”. Kyrgyzstan’s best known artists will create original variations on the motifs of some of the masterpieces of French painting, reported the press-centre of AsiaUniversalBank.

The painters will present new independent works reflecting reciprocal influences of different cultures, globalization in art, self identity and the path of development in modern art.

“The key aspect of AUB’s philanthropic activity is the preservation and support of Kyrgyzstan’s cultural heritage as an integral part of the world’s cultural diversity.  It is vitally important to maintain a continuous international cultural dialogue, to demonstrate to the world community that Kyrgyzstan is a country of considerable culture that is ready to welcome masterpieces of foreign art, and in its turn, share its achievements in art with the world”, said Aaly Umankulov, Deputy CEO of OJSC “AsiaUniversalBank whilst commenting on the project.

The project is, in the opinion of the organizers, of great importance in terms of strengthening the position of conceptual painting in Kyrgyzstan’s culture.

“Nowadays, in the advent of Internet and digital technologies, such conceptions as authorship and collective creative work, original and compilation, reciprocal influence and unique identity are interpreted in new ways”, noted Eugene Boikov, the supervisor of the program “For all times” and one of the originators of the project.

According to the instigators of the project “Reflex” is a positive example of international cultural dialogue, giving an opportunity for Kyrgyz artists to be at their best and to dazzle their audience. “Reflex” will promote the Kyrgyz school of painting abroad from a very special perspective. It is a project that must surely arouse interest of the public at large and modern art connoisseurs.

Within the framework of the project the artists will portray their interpretation of well-known paintings by French masters. This is an unprecedented event in the cultural life of the country, and the project organizers hope that this unusual idea will generate original and unique compositions. AUB, with the help of the French Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, will organize exhibitions of the paintings in Bishkek and Paris.
