OREANDA-NEWS. On May 12, 2009 As the first planned cruise liner of this season Zenith did not come to Klaipeda port, the cruise ship Delphin opened the cruise shipping season, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda port.
 
The first planned cruise liner of this season Zenith on Sunday, 10th of May 2009, grounded in the road-stead of Copenhagen (Denmark). Due to this incident the liner Zenith had to change its route and refuse calling Klaipeda port on the 11th of May. Zenith will call our port 8 times this cruise season.
 
Delphin opened the cruise shipping season on the 12th of May 2009 which is 156,2 m of length, 21,8 m beam and 6,2 m of draught and maximal passenger capacity of 520 people. Flying Bahamas flag with ship agents of UAB „Forsa“, and tourists serving UAB „Klaipedos Meja“ the ship Delphin is going to visit Klaipeda port 4 times.

Traditionally the first cruise ship was met with Lithuanian folk melodies.
 
2009 cruise season that started one day later, is going to be by several weeks longer than last year – from May 12 to September 28. This year 51 cruise vessel is going to visit our port (last year there were 46 liners). It is anticipated that during cruise season 2009 the number of cruise passengers should exceed 42 thousand in Klaipeda port (last year there were 32 461 passenger).

This year 27 big cruise liners will call Klaipeda port with the length from 174 to 272,90 m. There will also come three cruise ships for the first time: Zenith, Costa Magica and Tahitian Princess. Port Authority honours cruise vessels coming for the first time by handing Klaipeda city symbol.
