OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2009. Despite the global financial crisis, nowadays the growth of industrial output is being observed in agriculture. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko informed on opening a session of the Cabinet of Ministers. According to her, if March demonstrated growth in agriculture 14.4% against February, April showing is higher as compared to March – 19.1%.

“And if to compare four months of the current year with the analogous period of last year, agriculture is one among not many branches that has given growth in the crisis period,” the PM emphasized.

Yulia Tymoshenko also imparted that this year under spring and leguminous crops larger areas are sown than in 2008. “If in the previous year under spring and leguminous crops 6 million 617 ha were sown, for now it is 6 million 822 ha, which means owing to extra efforts of the agrarians, owing to a joint cooperation of agrarians and the Government we have sown more spring and leguminous crops,” the Head of Government stressed.

At this, Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized despite the positive showings we shouldn’t have “a minute of idleness, as the Government bears all the responsibility to counteract the world financial crisis”.
