OREANDA-NEWS. On 14 May 2009 was announced, that more than 60,000 square metres of dilapidated homes are to be demolished within the reconstruction of neighbourhood 12 in Shchukino township of Moscow to erect almost 300,000 square metres of new housing instead.

According to a source from City Hall, the relevant decree approving a development plan of neighbourhood 12 located in northwestern Moscow has been signed by the city mayor, Yuri Luzhkov.

“The neighbourhood occupies 52 hectares. The development plan provides for taking down the homes with the total area of 64,700 square metres and building 291,370 square metres of new housing. Besides, it is intended to develop 43,280 square metres of non-residential premises,” the official said.

The source added that it was also planned to erect 2 kindergartens to accommodate 500 children, a school for 1,100 students, a 360-capacity clinic for children and a fire engine house with the area of 6,340 square metres in the neighbourhood.
