OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2009. Baltic International Bank joined the United Nations Environment Programme – The Billion Tree Campaign, and participated in the process of greening the city of Riga. Last Saturday employees of the Bank planted trees and roses in one of the oldest parks in Riga – Viesturdarzs, reported the press-centre of Baltic International Bank.

“Each person or organization can make its contribution to environment preservation of the city where they work. The bank joined the United Nations The Billion Tree Campaign which aims at environment improvement”, said the Chairperson of the Board Ilona Gulchak.

Under the campaign the EU is encouraging people, communities, organizations, business and industry, civil society and governments to contribute to preservation and protection of natural resources. The objective of the campaign is to plant at least seven billion trees worldwide in year 2009.

Trees and roses were planted in honor of the foundation date of Baltic International Bank, celebrated by its personnel every May.
