OREANDA-NEWS. On 19 May 2009 was announced, that with support from Uralkali (Berezniki, Perm Territory), the Council of Uralkali Veterans held festive events dedicated to the Great Patriotic War Victory Day.

In accordance with tradition Uralkali veterans held traditional meetings with students of Berezniki's schools, colleges, and lycees in April and May. On the eve of Victory Day, the veterans and School 14 cadet class students laid wreaths and flowers on the graves of the front-line soldiers who had died of injuries in the city's hospitals.

A concert program and a festive banquet were organized for the Company's war veterans in the Berezniki Culture and Business Center on May 6.

Uralkali allocated more than 700 thousand rubles to its veteran council to sponsor the Victory Days events. Most of the money was provided as traditional financial aid to the Company's war veterans and workers on the home front. This year, every war veteran and home front worker received 850 rubles and 800 rubles respectively, or by about 10% more than in 2008.

Uralkali provides assistance to its veterans on a regular basis. About 5,000 veterans are registered with the Council of Uralkali Veterans. Uralkali's retired veterans receive quarterly grants from the Company. Despite the economic downturn the Company remains committed to its main social programs for 2009. Among them is the Veterans Assistance Program, with a budget of about 18.4 million rubles.
