OREANDA-NEWS. On 19 May 2009 was announced, that on May 13, 2009 a new trading volume record was set on FORTS, RTS’s derivatives market.

By the end of the main trading session the market participants had concluded a new record number of trades and volume activity in the RTS Index futures contact – 862,642 contracts comprising 194,941 trades.

The previous record was reported on March 17, 2009, when the trading volume in the RTSI futures reached 832,589 contracts, and the market participants transacted 194,607 trades.

May 13, 2009 also saw a record aggregate number of trades on FORTS – 349,466 trades. The previous record was set on April 14, 2009, when the market participants made 312,983 trades.

FORTS, the derivatives market of RTS, is the leading trading venue for futures and options in Russia. Trading on FORTS started in September 2001. At present FORTS has the widest range of instruments in Russia. These are 50 contracts (33 futures and 17 options) on shares of Russian companies, bonds, short term interest rates, currency, RTS Index, oil, silver, gas, sugar and gold.
