OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 May 2009 was announced, that COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (COMSTAR-UTS, LSE: CMST), the leading integrated telecommunications operator in Russia and the CIS, had provided a communication channel with 100 Mb/s capacity for online broadcasting of the extended meeting held by the Collegium of Ministry of Telecommunications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation at the ministry website www.minsvyaz.ru.

This Collegium extended meeting was opened on 12 May 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Blue Hall of the Expotsentr exhibition center on Krasnaya Presnya. The above website of the Ministry of Telecommunications could be used to watch and hear online public speaking taken by representatives of the Ministry, communication organizations, and telecommunication market experts.

Besides, COMSTAR-UTS has provided channels for Internet access within the 21st International Exhibition named Svyaz-Expocomm 2009 that is held from 12 to 15 May in Moscow, Expotsentr exhibition center on Krasnaya Presnya. These channels will be used to arrange an Olympic competition in computer for school and student teams, IT-students e-cup 2009. The goal of this event is to enhance a level of the youth’s education in the area of information technologies. Participants of the Olympic competition are students and school pupils, including young people with disabilities. During the Olympic competition, its participants may get Internet access by using both fixed and wireless channels based on WiMAX.

COMSTAR-UTS also arranged a communication channel for a joint exposition stand of AFK Sistema within Svyaz-Expocomm 2009 exhibition. The channel capacity is 1 Gb/s. The COMSTAR-UTS stand exhibits the whole range of Internet access technologies, both fixed and wireless: Ethernet, Wi-Fi, WiMAX.

All communication channels arranged by COMSTAR-UTS at the exhibition are connected to the new-generation network of COMSTAR-UTS Group of companies.
