OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2009. In April 2009, the volume of deposits attracted by the banks decreased by 2,74 million leis as compared to March 2009.

According to the NBM, in April 2009, the deposits attracted by the banks totaled 25 million 441.65 thousand lei, or 9.73% less than in March 2009 (28 million 182,6 thousand leis). This decline was due to the reduction of 23.75% of attracted foreign currency deposits of individuals and 16% - of deposits in MDL of individuals.

At the same time, the volume of leis deposits of the legal entities and individuals in foreign currency decreased by 4.91% and 12.4%, respectively. Of the total volume of deposits attracted in April 2009, were the leis deposits of the legal entities 60.11% (15 million 293.63 thousand lei). Attraction of the currency deposits of the legal entities amounted to 20.55% (5.23 million leis).

The most popular were leis demanded deposits worth 16.92 million leis (66.5% of the total and deposits in foreign currency worth 5.87 million leis (23, 08% of the total). In April 2009, the average rate on the time deposits in MDL amounted to 18.72% (as compared to 19.36% in March), including legal entities 13.34% (in March - 14.31%) and individuals - 2.07% (in March - 20.71%).

At the same time, the average rate on the fixed-term foreign currency deposits amounted to 9.66% (in March - 10,18%), including legal entities - 8,01% (in March - 6.78%), individuals - 9 , 97% (in March - 10.76%).
