OREANDA-NEWS. May 22, 2009. The first borehole designed by Belarusian specialists of the oil-extracting joint venture Petrolera BeloVenesolana has become operational at Guara Este deposit in Venezuela, the Belorusneft press service said.

Prior to drilling the well Belarusian specialised performed geological prospecting of the area, estimated possible oil reserves, and determined the advisability and the location of the well. After that the well was designed and built. It is the first one built by Belarusian oil workers in Latin America and the first one in the history of the Belarusian-Venezuelan joint venture. Prior to the well the joint venture extracted oil from already available wells. Drilling operations will be performed by Petrax company under supervision of Belarusian specialists.

The Belarusian-Venezuelan oil-extracting joint venture Petrolera BeloVenesolana exploits two oil fields: an X bloc in Lago Medio and Guara Este. In 2008 the company extracted 680,000 tonnes of oil.
