OREANDA-NEWS. May 25, 2009. As part of preparing the International Competition Conference under the auspices of BRIC, which will take place on1-2 September 2009 in Kazan, Russia, a delegation of the Chinese competition authority (the State Administration for Industry & Commerce (SAIC) of the People's Republic of China) made a working visit to the Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS Russia). SAIC, jointly with competition authorities of Brazil and India, is a Conference co-organizer, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Che Chinese delegation visited the Central Office of FAS Russia for negotiations with Andrei Tsyganov, Deputy Head of FAS Russia. The parties discussed general organizational issues; in particular, they specified the Conference programme, its handout materials, the content of presentations, etc. Also the parties concentrated on important issues of developing bilateral cooperation, including possibility to finalize and sign at the BRIC Conference the next Memorandum of Understanding between FAS Russia and SAIC. The Memorandum focuses on implementing the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in the field antimonopoly policy and unfair competition (of 25th April 1996) for 2010 - 2011.

The delegation of the State Administration for Industry & Commerce of the People's Republic of China, jointly with the Working Group of FAS Russia on Organizing the International Competition Conference under the Auspices of BRIC, visited Kazan in order to take a view of the venue and have an insight of the Conference preparation.

The visit programme also included a joint meeting with representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan, chaired by Ravil' Muratov, the First Deputy of the Prime-Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan. At the meeting the parties discussed various issues of Conference organization and participants' security, and appointed responsible officials. The outcome of the meeting was presented at the press -conference given for the media of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In general, the Chinese side expressed full satisfaction with preparation to the Conference, pointing out high standard of the advances.
