OREANDA-NEWS. On May 26, 2009 At a joint media conference with the Secretary of General People's Committee of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya al-Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmudi the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has thanked for an invitation and effective work of governmental delegations of the two states.

Yulia Tymoshenko considers a good sign that an official visit of Ukrainian Prime Minister took place on Africa Day. She congratulated all residents of the African continent, wished them good, peace and prosperity.

The Prime Minister stressed for Ukraine the visit to Lybia is very important, in particular as agreements in the area of diversification of energy supplies achieved. According to her, the parties also agreed on supplies of Lybian oil to Ukraine and building an oil refinery in the vicinity of Odesa Port Plant which will process around 10 billion tons of oil annually. The Premier informed within nearest time Lybian specialists would come to Ukraine to make economic calculations.

The second priority line opening the doors to the African continent for Ukraine and appears perspective for Ukraine and Lybia alike is cooperation in agrarian sector, notably in the direction of grain supplies, as Yulia Tymoshenko put it.

The third prospect direction between the two states, according to Yulia Tymoshenko, is cooperation in production and supplies of Ukrainian aircrafts to Lybia and African states.

The fourth cooperation line is cooperation in military-technical domain. According to Yulia Tymoshenko, a respective intergovernmental agreement has been inked today, which gives chance to set to practical realization of the projects in this area.

Yulia Tymoshenko accentuated despite rather poor cooperation elements between Ukraine and Lybia in the times of previous governments, “in the capacity of the Government we will spare no effort to justify hopes of the Lybian party and be a reliable partner”.

The Prime Minister views the achieved understandings and defined priorities are not situational things but “a key strategy for both states”. According to her, the Ukrainian Government will do its best to realize the elaborated projects: “It is crucial to preserve the dynamics of our cooperation now”.

Yulia Tymoshenko hopes on July 20 in Ukraine, in the course of a meeting of Ukraine-Lybia Economic Commission the part with 17 projects submitted to Lybian party by the Ukrainian one during the official visit will be signed. “There is a good tradition in Ukraine that previous governments say but we do… We have given a good start to our cooperation,” the Premier opined.
