OREANDA-NEWS. May 27, 2009. IBA participated in the Software Engineering Forum 2009 (SEF-2009) that took place in Minsk, Belarus. Organized by the Infopark scientific and technological association (Minsk, Belarus) and SQALab LLC (Moscow, Russia), the event was held under the auspices of the High-Tech Park Administration, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Communications and Informatization, and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, reported the press-centre of IBA.

The Software Engineering Forum was aimed at consolidating the IT communities of the CIS and Baltic states as well as raising the proficiency of IT specialists.

The forum gathered more than 300 participants from Belarus, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine. Representatives of IT vendors including IBM, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, and HP; IT consultants and consulting agencies; university teachers and students of IT faculties; and other IT professionals attended the event.

The participants in the forum delivered more than 60 presentations on practical issues related to software development.

Opening SEF 2009, Sergei Levteev, IBA CEO, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. Levteev said: “The IBA specialists create products of universal importance. To stay highly competitive, IT companies should keep mastering new IT and business technologies. Today companies need not just programmers, but professionals who are able to solve business problems using information technologies. I hope that the forum, which aims to raise the professional level of IT specialists, will help them to succeed. I am sure that SEF-2009 will contribute to the consolidation of the professional IT communities, namely of the people who bring modern technologies to the everyday life of our country, thus creating the true information society.”

At the forum, IBA delivered the following reports:

“UNIX and Linux: management of free space within the file system” by Dzmitry Trubach, IBA Information Business Systems Division

“Load testing of client/server applications” by Aliaksei Yakimovich, Head of the IBA Testing Department

“Use of NTFS Reparse points on Windows HSM” by Kirill Kolotygin, IBA Information Business Systems Division.

In addition to plenary and section reports, the forum included master classes, roundtable discussions, workshops, and focus groups.
