OREANDA-NEWS. May 28, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Vice Chairman of the Council for Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry Abdul Rahman Al-Jeraisy, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital leading the delegation representing the business circles of Saudi Arabia.

The guest conveyed the heartfelt greetings and best wishes of King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Emir Sultan bin Abdel Aziz Al-Saud emphasizing that he was very glad to have an opportunity to visit Turkmenistan – the friendly country with which Saudi Arabia intended to foster cooperation. Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Jeraisy noted that the official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2007 had created the new incentives to develop mutually advantageous partnership. The guest said that the real results of this visit included intensification of bilateral business contacts that was illustrated by the visit and membership of the delegation representing the business circles of Saudi Arabia who showed keen interest in the very promising Turkmen market.

Addressing the best wishes to the King and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that he was sincerely glad to welcome the envoys of the friendly state that Turkmenistan was bound with the heartily ties based in the historical, cultural and spiritual affinities of two nations.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on a wide range of the issues of bilateral cooperation in the priority fields including agriculture, textile industry, tourism, hotel business. The focus of the talks was further partnership in the fuel and energy sector – the basic one for both economies. The sides noted that ranking among the world’s energy producers Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia stood ready to develop effective collaboration in this sector through using the existing opportunities and potential.

Emphasizing that today Turkmenistan that played a key role in the Central Asian region was viewed worldwide as a very promising and dependable partner Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Jeraisy said that the business community of Saudi Arabia intended to collaborate actively in the ongoing investment projects implemented in the framework of the social and economic development programmes in Turkmenistan.

In this context the sides focused on the need to enhance humanitarian contacts as a strategic vector of the intergovernmental relations, a powerful factor for furthering the dialogue of friendship, mutual confidence and understanding. In particular, the sides highly appreciated the Days of Turkmen Culture which were being hosted by different cities in Saudi Arabia.

In conclusion the President and his guest expressed belief that bilateral cooperation meeting the interests and aspirations of the friendly peoples of Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia would be fostered and bring generous fruits.
