OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 May 2009 Doctor Web — the leader on the Russian IT security services market – announced a successful deployment of Dr.Web AV-Desk the Puzzle ISP operating in Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk and Orel.

Incepted in 2006 Puzzle always strived for highest quality and a wide variety of available services. As the number of subscribers grew and the company gained foothold in several Russian cities, the problem of viruses getting into local networks and compromising user machines was getting more and more urgent.

Malware is a common issue for most Russian ISPs as their customers disregard the importance of information security and don’t use reliable anti-virus software or fail to keep it up to date. When a machine of such a user gets infected, the user applies to the provider support service for help while support engineers have no expertise in anti-virus protection. In 2007 the leading Russian anti-virus vendor Doctor Web offered its innovative product Dr.Web AV-Desk aiming to provide an ultimate solution to the problem for both service providers and their subscribers. More than one hundred provider companies in Russia and other CIS countries have already deployed the service proving that the project has been a success.

In May 2009 Dr.Web AV-Desk was installed and integrated with the billing system of another ISP allowing Puzzle’s subscribers in five Russian cities to use the Dr.Web anti-virus service.

Once the anti-virus service is activated, a user receives an installer download link. Launching the downloaded file installs the anti-virus software on the computer. The anti-virus automatically connects to a provider’s server to retrieve updates of virus databases and software modules.
