OREANDA-NEWS. May 29, 2009. The balance of credits in Moldova’s economy reduced in April 2009 by 74.1 million lei (0.3%) in comparison with the previous month and totaled 24 billion 586.7 million lei.

According to the National Bank’s data, the indicator changed due to the reduction in the balance of local currency credits by 171.8 million leis (1.2 per cent), while the balance of foreign currency credits expressed in MDL grew by 97.7 million lei (1 per cent).

The decrease in the balance of MDL credits resulted from the reduction of the balance of credits provided to the private sector and individuals by 130.1 million leis (1.5 per cent) and 84.3 million leis (1.8 per cent), respectively.

At the same time, the balance of credits provided to state-run enterprises and other organizations performing financial operations increased by 0.5 million lei (0.2 per cent) and by 42.1 million lei (4.4 per cent), respectively.

Expressed in dollars, the balance of foreign currency credits reduced in April 2009 in comparison with the previous month by US19 million (2.1 per cent) and totaled US 904.8 million. The volume of credits provided in MDL in April 2009 totaled 562.8 million lei, down 166.5 million leis (22.8 per cent) from the previous month.

The amount of credits given in April 2009 in foreign currency to legal entities totaled 470.2 million lei (the equivalent of US 42.2 million) down US 15.2 million from the previous month.
