OREANDA-NEWS. On 01 June 2009 was announced, that Belarus’ farm output increased 6.6% on the year in January-April to 4.776 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), a source in the National Statistics Committee told.

Agricultural companies and farms increased production 8.9%, while households’ output went down 6.6%.

Sales of fattened cattle and poultry rose 12.2% on the year in January-April to 379,700 tonnes, milk output rose 9.2% to 1.701 million tonnes, and egg output went up 1.9% to 757 million units.

Return on sales of Belarus’ agribusiness reached 7% in January-March 2009, up from 7.4% in January-March 2008.

In January-March 2009, farms’ net profit reached 432.7 billion rubles, up 19.6% year-on-year. Net loss of 26 unprofitable farms was at 7 billion rubles, up from 3.2 billion rubles in January-March 2008. There were 27 loss-making farms in January-March 2008.

Overdue payables of Belarus’ agriculture were at 1.6 trillion rubles as of April 1, 2009, 20.3% of all payables. Overdue payables rose 38% over April 1, 2008, and exceeded overdue receivables 3.5 times.
