OREANDA-NEWS. On 01 June 2009 was announced, that the Agriculture Ministry of Belarus has initiated regulatory acts to support personal subsidiary plots, Minister Semyon Shapiro told the Council of Ministers.

In 2009 alone, some 9,300 people require 49 billion Belarusian rubles (Br) in loans, the ministry believes.

“In order to support private subsidiary plots, the Agriculture Ministry, Belagroprombank together with regional agro administrations has elaborated a drat presidential ordinance to provide loans for development of personal plots – 10 million rubles at a rate of 5% annually for acquisition of cows, swine and cattle management,” Shapiro said.

Some 1.4 billion rubles will be required to reduce lending rates.

Shapiro also commented on the anticipated ordinance on farm production, which envisages the creation of agro cooperatives.

“We suggest creating a foundation for cooperative societies, which will be providing services for personal plots in certain regions of the country,” he said.

Also, a draft ordinance on consumer societies of mutual lending has been prepared.

“The document expands lending possibilities by involving individual funds. We plan to borrow Russia’s experience in this matter. No budget funds will be involved,” Shapiro said.

According to him, Belarus will extend its regulatory framework to support private plots.
