OREANDA-NEWS  On 03 June was announced, that the Stavropol Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (the Stavropol OFAS Russia) fined "Nevinnomysskgorgaz" OJSC for abusing dominant position on the market of network gas supply services.

A resident of Nevinnomyssk approached "Nevinnomysskgorgaz" OJSC to obtain technical specifications in order to install gas service to a household. "Nevinnomysskgorgaz" OJSC provided the technical specifications, where determined a remote tie-in point on the gas pipeline, rather than the nearest one to the applicant. Effectively, the applicant must shoulder the costs of installing a street gas pipeline that in the future would be necessary for district development. Thus, the actions of "Nevinnomysskgorgaz" OJSC were aimed at shifting the burden of installing the gas service to the applicant.

Those actions of the monopolist company violated the antimonopoly legislation. The company is administratively liable under Article 14.31 of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations (abusing dominant position).

The Stavropol OFAS Russia investigated an administrative case against "Nevinnomysskgorgaz" OJSC under Article 14.31 of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations and issued a determination on imposing a 1.63 million Rubles fine.
