OREANDA-NEWS  On 03 June AS "PrivatBank" warned customers about fraud danger.

Over the last few days, several AS "PrivatBank" customers have been receiving e-mail letters supposedly sent from the bank, with the subject “Online User Notification”. In these letters, which were written in English, they were notified of changes in the Privat Online Internet-bank security system and were asked to follow the link indicated in the letter in order to confirm their user name and password. The link led to the site which was visually very similar to the Privat Online start-up page, but as soon as a visitor entered his user name or password, this information was sent to fraudsters, who are the true authors of the letters sent out.

Many bank customers are subject to attacks according to such scheme, intended for unduly credulous people. The main thing one should know in case such letters are received is that never and under no circumstances will AS "PrivatBank" demand of the customer to confirm his/her user name and password outside of the ibank.privatbank.lv website. The bank also recommends its customers not to enter the internet bank via links but rather enter it by manually typing the address into their browser's address line.

AS "PrivatBank" recommends those customers who have followed the link in the letter received from fraudsters and unknowingly provided their internet bank data to abusers to immediately contact the bank at the toll-free phone number 8000 1515 or visit the nearest branch of the bank in person.
