OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 June 2009 was announced, that at the enlarged session of the Coordination Council on Tourism Development in the Republic of Karelia there have been considered the course of preparation for the summer tourist season of 2009 and measures on increasing of tourist prospects of Petrozavodsk.

Representatives of bodies of the government, administrations of Petrozavodsk city district, Byelomorsk, Pudozh, Olonets, Muezersky, Sortavala, Prionezhsky regions and other municipal formations of the Republic of Karelia, as well as tourist, hotel, transport, insurance companies have taken part in the session. In total, in work of the Council there participated about 100 people.

During the session there have been discussed issues of receiving and rendering services to tourists visiting the basic tourist objects of Karelia, specific measures of increase of tourist prospects of Petrozavodsk, safety ensuring for organized groups and tourists in territory of the republic have been defined. Representatives of transport companies have informed on water transportation of tourists on routes Petrozavodsk – Kizhi – Petrozavodsk and Belomorsk – Solovki – Belomorsk, and also on organization of regular flights of Region Avia airline in summer of 2009.

Special attention at the session of the Council was paid to distribution of the virus of a high pathogenic flu A/H1N1. Tourist companies have been informed, that in the republic there has been created an operative staff for prevention of distribution of the flu A/H1N1, a Comprehensive plan of prophylactic and organizational measures for prevention of distribution of diseases and increase of readiness to pandemia in territory of the republic is approved.

On results of the Coordination Council the decision was made to unite effort of bodies of the government and local self-government of the republic, enterprises and organizations of tourist industry to maintain steady development of Karelian tourism, giving it an important role in the system of anti-recessionary measures in the Republic of Karelia.
