OREANDA-NEWS. On 16 June 2009 INTRACOM TELECOM, a part of SITRONICS, announced the launching of its advanced WiMAX solution under the brand name OmniMAX. The company featured a live demonstration of its newest product at its booth no. 3.28 in Hall 3, at the WiMAX Forum Global Congress in Amsterdam.

OmniMAX is an innovative high-end WiMAX access solution enabling broadband wireless services to fixed, nomadic, portable and mobile end users. The system is ideal for incumbent and green-field operators facilitating fast time to market delivery of advanced and personalized services with guaranteed performance and tightly controlled CapEx.

OmniMAX operates in the 2.3 - 2.7 GHz and 3.3 - 3.8 GHz frequency bands and is fully compliant with IEEE 802.16e-2005 and WiMAX Forum Wave-II Certification requirements. Furthermore, the reduced system power consumption offers a green differentiation to operators that embrace the OmniMAX product.

"INTRACOM TELECOM, through its new OmniMAX platform, is taking a solid step forward in becoming a leading vendor of this exciting broadband wireless technology” said Mr. Alexandros Manos, CEO of INTRACOM TELECOM. “The high performance features of this WIMAX product, in combination with its unparalleled flexibility and cost effectiveness make it an ideal solution for operators aiming to deploy their networks in varying environments with minimal investment risk.”

INTRACOM TELECOM has been involved in the evolution of WiMAX since its very first steps. Over the last few years, the company has been investing both in the development of technical expertise and service delivery capability to play a leading role in the deployment of the WiMAX technology and its full integration with the current and Next Generation Networks.

OmniMAX is composed of an Indoor unit (IDU) that has a leading capacity of 3 protected MIMO sectors using only a 1U form factor and a high power radio Outdoor unit (ODU) with beamforming capability. OmniMAX supports advanced antenna system (AAS) techniques; Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC), 2x2 MIMO-A for link robustness and MIMO-B for increased capacity.

Each Base Station unit will be available in either optical or electrical OBSAI interface variants. The compact design, in combination with the very low power dissipation of the system and the IDU-ODU interface flexibility, creates an attractive offering for the operator who requires optimization of site OpEx and backhauling costs.

Partnerships

Wintegra network processors and Picochip pico-array technologies have been selected as the technology platform for the base station development. The chosen technology platform and Intracom Telecom’s expertise in wireless MAC and networking has enabled the development of a very flexible field upgradable basestation solution capable to support current and future releases of WiMAX standards. OmniMAX basestation is delivering true IO-MIMO solution and along with silicon’s unique capabilities gives an extremely flexible SDR platform. Using Intracom Telecom’s long involvement in radio & PHY related research and design activities, OmniMAX provides state of the art techniques like beamforming, MIMO 4x4, cooperative MIMO and multi-user MIMO precoding.

Intracom Telecom’s wide CPE ecosystem includes IOT with chipset vendors like Sequans and Fujitsu Microelectronicsand equipment vendors like Gemtek and Gigaset. MS offerings include a large range of products like indoor and outdoor CPEs, indoor IADs and USB dongles providing flexibility in any kind of deployment.
