OREANDA-NEWS. June 17, 2009. In January-May 2009, Vanino Commercial Seaport (Vanino Port OJSC, Khabarovsk Territory) handled 2.422 million tonnes of cargo (-16.4%, year-on-year), the company states. In May Vanino Port.

In the 5-month period the company transshipped 1.209 million tonnes of export cargo (-14.3 %) including 504,500 tonnes of timber (-30%), 336,500 tonnes of ferrous metal (+15.9%), 358,700 tonnes of coal (+28.2%).

Transshipment of import cargo amounted to 531,400 tonnes (-12%) including 517,600 tonnes of alumina (+2.2%).

Transshipment of coastal trade cargo totaled 148,200 tonnes (99.9% against the same period in 2008). The Vanino-Kholmsk ferry link carried 533,300 tonnes (72.6% against January-May 08).

For the first five months of 2009 the company handled 30,839 wagons and 531 vessels including 235 ferries.

The stevedore’s container throughput totaled 10,912 TEU including 2,549 TEU in May.

Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC is the largest stevedoring company of Khabarovsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR. In 2008 thecompany handled 6.621 million tonnes of cargo.
