OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2009. IBC Executive Director, Kuban Ashyrkulov, gave insights on the recently launched survey on Project Rights Protection (joint project with GTZ) at the 4th donor’s coordination meeting that was held in the Secretariat of the Investment Council, reported the press-centre of IBC.

IBC lawyers and experts started analyzing the current state of the property rights protection. In a second step, draft recommendations will be developed and publicly debated by all major stakeholders such as members of parliaments, representatives of the judiciary and businesses in the Kyrgyz Republic. IBC is striving for the substantial improvement of the Kyrgyz property rights protection by lobbying the Government, Parliament, and Judiciary.

Moreover, Kubat Murzaev, Ministry for Economic Development and Trade (MEDT), presented the Investment Promotion project that focuses on the (1) evaluation of investment projects, (2) creation of qualitative data basis of investment projects, and (3) PR for Kyrgyz Republic as investment location. The long-term goal is the reorganization into a Competitiveness and Investment Promotion Agency under the MEDT. More information can be found on www.investinkg.org.

Furthermore, USAID will implement a Local Development Program in Kyrgyz Republic between 2010 and 2014 (+ 2 options years). USAID-project, with a core budget of 20 million US, aims to stimulate economic growth at the local level by collaborating with minimum 5 small to mid-size towns and minimum 10 rural municipalities. With the help of this project, business and investment environment as well as municipal finance and capital investment shall increase. In addition, value chain and sector competitiveness should be improved, access to finance facilitated and workforce education upgraded.
