OREANDA-NEWS. On June 19, 2009 42nd session of the CIS Economic Council took place in Chisinau (the Republic of Moldova), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of FAS Russia, made a report "On the State and Development Trends of Competition Policy in the Russian Federation".

Andrey Tsyganov informed the session on specific features of modern competition policy in Russia and gave his assessment of the competitive environment on the Russian markets. He also presented proposals for stimulating and developing competition in the period of overcoming the financial-and-economic crisis.

His report emphasized the importance of competition advocacy at the present stage of economic development of the Russian Federation and the need to ensure economic integration of the CIS member-states, which determines the goals and objectives, as well as the doctrine of competition policy in the Russian Federation. The report also focused on FAS Russia's practical experience of improving the antimonopoly legislation and its enforcement.

The Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States expressed a high opinion of the work of the Russian Federation on developing competition policy, improving the antimonopoly legislation and its enforcement. The Economic Council will forward the Report "On the State and Development Trends of Competition Policy in the Russian Federation" to the Governments of the CIS member-states.
