OREANDA-NEWS. On 23 June 2009 was announced, that Transaero Airlines had recently received two Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft. The planes are equipped with CFM56-7 engines. The Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft have two-class configurations and are capable of carrying up to 176 passengers. A comfortable business-class lounge includes 8 seats, while the economy class section has 168 seats.

“Despite the complicated economic environment, our airline has not changed its development plans and continues full speed ahead with its fleet renewal program,” remarked Transaero Airlines General Director Olga Pleshakova. ”We are continuing with plans to commission next generation aircraft, including Boeing 777, Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 737-800 into our fleet. The new aircraft will be operated on both tourist and regular routes such as flights to Greece, Egypt as well as to Irkutsk and some destinations in the CIS“.

Transaero Airlines has rich experience in operating Next Generation Boeing aircraft. In 1998 the airline became the first carrier in Russia and the second in the world to receive the new Boeing 737-700 planes, which were successfully operated by the airline for the duration of their lease term. In 2000 Boeing named Transaero Airlines the most efficient operator of Boeing 737-700NG.

Currently, the Transaero fleet includes 45 modern, well maintained aircraft, including thirteen Boeing 747s, two Boeing 777s, eleven 767s, seventeen 737s and two Tupolev 214s.
