OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 June 2009 was announced, that Steel output of Zhlobin-based Belarusian Metallurgical Plant (BMZ) amounted to 1.081 million tonnes in January-ay, up 3.1% on the year, an official with the plant told.

Rolled stock output increased 6.2% on the year in the period to 907,102 tonnes.

Steel pipe output amounted to 16,842 tonnes, down 3.4% year-on-year.

Hardware goods output decreased 10.9% on the year to 115,388 tonnes. Metal cord output went down 11.5% to 35,606 tonnes.

BMZ’s output in monetary terms decreased 3.2% on the year in January-May to 1.356 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br).

Exports fell 50.8% to U.S. USD 362.149 million, according to preliminary estimates.

State company Belarusian Metallurgical Plant was launched in 1984. BMZ exports about 85% of its output. Non-CIS countries account for more than 70% of the BMZ’s exports.
