OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 June 2009 was announced, that the exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble (Br) set by the National Bank of Belarus (NBB) for June 11, 2009 is closer to the ceiling of the 5% band around the basket parity than ever in 2009.

The ruble has depreciated to 1,007.3 against the basket, just 70 kopecks short of the ceiling, at 1,008 rubles.

‘Traders thought the ruble would reach the ceiling or even exceed it, but the ruble remained within the band, because the euro-dollar pair was calculated at 1.4095, while at that moment the euro bought 1.412 dollars,” a financial analyst told.

The official exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble on June 11, 2009 has been set at 2,820 rubles to the dollar, 3,975 rubles to the euro, and 91.18 rubles to the Russian rubles.

On January 2, 2009, the basket of three currencies cost 960 Belarusian rubles.
