OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 June 2009 was announced, that this month the Contemporary museum of calligraphy acquired a new and unique exhibit: a script book Decalogue made of natural materials and issued in limited edition.

Decalogue, or Ten Commandments, is the basic law of all laws regulating the human relationships. On the one hand, the commandments might seem simple and unconventional, but on the other hand, they are full of eternal philosophic complexity and conceptual background.

Decalogue issued by the Rare Book from St. Petersburg publishers is the visual incarnation of seriousness, strictness and formal beauty and charm of the Ten Commandments.

The book materials are truly unique: it is a rock brought from the Sinai Mount where Moses got them from God, Egyptian reed, Jewish parchment, hand-made designer’s paper and silver. The text of commandments reproduced in Classical Hebrew, Old Church Slavonic, Russian and some other languages is printed manually.

The unique edition will be displayed from October 14 till November 14, 2009 during the International Exhibition of Calligraphy in Sokolniki Park.
