On June 22, 2009 Vladimir Shamakhov was appointed manager of Sviaz-Bank’s St. Petersburg branch, with terms of reference that include reinforcing the branch’s positions in the region and fulfilling the tasks set to the Bank by its shareholders, reported the press-centre of Sviaz-Bank.

Mr. Shamakhov was born in the Moscow Region in 1952. In 1974, he graduated from the Admiral Makarov Higher Naval Engineering School and, in 1979, the Higher Youth League School run by the League’s Central Committee, cum laude. He has a master’s degree in history and a doctorate in economics.

Mr. Shamakhov started working in 1974. In the later years of his working career, between June 1990 and December 1993, he was deputy chief of the Northwestern Department of the Russian Federation’s State Customs Control, and between late 1993 and 1995, he was Chief of the Human Resources and Educational Institutions Department of the Russian Federation’s State Customs Committee. In December 1995, Mr. Shamakhov was made Chief of the Northwestern Department of the Russian Federation’s State Customs Control, a position he occupied until September 2002.

Between September 2002 and November 2004, Mr. Shamakhov was Rector of the Northwestern Public Service Academy. From November 2004 to April 2007, he was first deputy to the head of the Federal Customs Service. He was then appointed deputy Office Chief of the Russian Federation’s Government.

In December 2008, Vladimir Shamakhov joined Sviaz-Bank as Counsel to the Bank’s President-Management Board Chairman. On February 24, 2009, he was made Vice Chairman and member of the Bank’s Management Board. On June 22, 2009, he was transferred to the position of manager of the Bank’s St. Petersburg branch, without forfeiting his membership of the Bank’s collective executive body.
